Mini

Every successful story starts with a hero. Born Roberto Font-Andino, to friends and family and those who’ve watched him grow, they know him as Mini.
Roberto Font-Andino was born to a Puerto Rican mother and Italian father in Rio Piedras Puerto Rico. At the ripe age of 11 his family moved from the beloved island in search of a better life and opportunities in America. The year was 1996 and in the early half of January his family chose to provide better opportunities for Roberto, the move also stemmed from the brutal murder of his uncle. At a young age those losses stick with you. Upon arrival, Roberto refused to speak, it took 3 months before he was ready to try to communicate in English. His love for music is what pushed him to adopt the English language. His first instance was when he heard the late 2Pac Shakur. Hip Hop music was his escape and a pivotal point in Font’s life. Within six months he was able to learn to fluently speak and write in English. There was a connection between Font and the Shakur that was relatable and understandable. Around this same time Roberto became infatuated with the hit BET comedy show Comic View and stand up comedy. So much so he would write his own jokes and lines and practice them religiously.
